The Breakfast Burrito

So, I’ve decided to turn this into a food blog!

Jk! It’s still going to be about whatever random thoughts are going on in my mind at the moment (and if you know me well, you’ll know that I’m random AF!). I wanted to share my recent breakfast burrito story since it’s such a good one (and I’m not saying that because it’s my blog and I love breakfast burritos). This post is actually about positive thinking and the law of attraction (say whaaaat?!). Try to stay with me on this one; it’ll come full circle in a bit.

Like any good story, this one starts out with a quest for some delicious food! It was a Saturday morning a few weeks back and I had woken up at the crack of dawn to go out and take pictures of the sunrise (the things you can do when you don’t go out and drink the night before! *does mind blown hand gesture*). I have been doing it a lot lately, waking up super early to wander around the city aimlessly taking pictures. It’s a completely different city at that time of the day on the weekends. The city is still and quiet. Most businesses are still closed and you mostly see people out jogging or walking their dogs. Hardly any cars in the street, a total contrast to the usual hustle and bustle you get during the week. That peacefulness on its own is quite the reward for getting up early on the weekends (makes the day last longer too), and when you throw in a sunrise, it’s a recipe for a wonderful morning. I have also been on this quest in 2017 to try as many new coffee shops as humanly possible (sowwy Coffee Bean, gotta diversify, nah mean?). So that adds an extra layer of awesomeness to the morning adventure. Sunrises, exercise, pictures, coffee and dope scenery… that’s what I call winning!

To take a quick step back and to add texture this story, I had recently finished reading “You are a badass” by Jen Sincero (as part of my other quest to read a minimum of 50 books this year). And there is a section in the book where homegirl talks about getting in alignment with the universe and how that can cause things to start working in your favor. It also talks about the power of positive thinking. I had been exposed to the concept of the law of attraction back when The Secret came out, and although I had always believed in positive thinking, the way the concept was presented did not resonate with me, so I didn’t explore it any further. But this time around, the book I read presented it in a simple and easy to grasp manner. So I was sold, and along with my positive thinking, I was ready to give it an honest try.

Now, back to that magical Saturday morning. I had been thinking positively the entire week and was finding happiness in the most simple and mundane every day things. I was a friggin’ walking ball of sunshine with good vibes oozing out of my pores! I had been out shooting for like two hours and I was starting to get hungry. So I thought to myself, “Options are limited at this time of the day, where should I go? What should I get?” And after some thoughtful deliberation, I decided to grab a breakfast burrito. Simple, cheap and portable! There’s this Mexican spot that has an excellent breakfast burrito and they have a ton of salsas to choose from (like more than 12 on deck at all times, so awesome! Oh, and the place is called Casa La Doña if you’re wondering). So I took out my phone to check what time they opened, and to my dismay, they were closed and wouldn’t open for another two hours (sonababish!). I was SOL, so I had to think of a back up plan. I then remembered seeing a picture of a delicious looking breakfast burrito on Instagram a few weeks prior, but for the life of me, I could not remember the name of the place or the name of the account that had posted it. Undeterred, I decided that I was going to track it down one way or another. I put that thought out there into the universe and I was thinking positively all morning (pure happiness too, none of that smiling on the outside, while crying on the inside stuff). I then proceeded to pull out my phone to see if I could track the place down. When I opened the Instagram app, the very first picture that came up on feed was the burrito I was looking for…DAFUQ?!!!! What the chingada?!

The universe heard me and delivered big time! Yeah, I know, a bit of overkill on the level of excitement, but when you are in alignment with the universe, these minuscule things still bring you happiness. And to exponentially increase the level of awesomeness of this story, I clicked on the page of the place to look for the address and it was on 6th street, and guess what, I was standing on 6th street!!! Fuhhhh!!! It was only a block and a half away from me. No chingues universe! Thank you! So I made my way over and had a delicious breakfast burrito (place is called Wake and Late on 6th street, between Main and Los Angeles). Does this mean that universe is going to give you everything you wish for the moment you wish for it? Nope, not necessarily, but somehow someway, when you start putting those thoughts out there and start working towards them, the universe does what it can to meet you half way. So keep on thinking positively, continue to work hard and let your intentions be known to the universe as well as everyone around you. Pretty soon, you’ll have your own breakfast burrito story. Thanks for reading.
