I’ve always told peeps that if at the end, my life ended up being comprised of 51 percent happy moments and 49 percent sad moments; I would still consider it a good life. It’s a pretty slim difference, but I still feel like the 2 percent is enough to tip the scale. This comes from knowing that life is a series of moments (hence the name of this blog). Some moments are longer than others, but they all come to an end, and that is kind of where the mantra of “this too shall pass” stems from. Mostly it is said in reference to sad moments or moments of misfortune, but it also applies to happy moments. They are all fleeting and temporary so you can’t hold onto the happy ones for dear life or believe that the sad ones will never end.
In moments of happiness, you have to learn to appreciate them for as long as they last and then let them go willingly when they come to an end. And in moments of sadness, you have to realize that they will eventually also come to an end, so you have to hold on to hope and endure (kind of like this current situation). Like with most of the situations you encounter in life, your ability to deal with them comes down to your overall perspective along with your understanding of how the universe operates. There will be times when the cards are stacked in your favor and other times when they aren’t. So, you can’t get too caught up in either of those instances. Live in the moment, appreciate or learn from it (or both!). These are just moments. May your life be 51/49 or better! 🙂
